Pineapple! Where!? Where!?

First of all, if you don't understand the title of this post you may want to watch this video!

I am so excited to share one of our favorite Saturday morning green smoothies with you. We start with a creamy base of avocado, add mango for texture and pineapple for a tangy twist! "What?" you say, "something this tasty strengthens the bones, provides essential iron and lowers cholesterol?"

Why yes, it can! Good question :) You see, pineapples contain manganese, a trace mineral your body needs to build bones and connective tissues. In one cup of pineapple you can get just over 70% of your body's daily need for manganese. Mangoes are a good source of iron, vitamin C and pectin which boost energy and help fight off illness. Avocados are high in beta-sitosterol which lowers cholesterol.

But wait! There is more to this smoothie than meets the eye...hidden in this vibrant smoothie-de-resistance are energy boosting chia seeds, healing aloe vera and allergen taming bee pollen.

It you are unfamiliar with any of the following ingredients, check out this post on basic smoothie ingredients and preparation!

1 Avocado
1/2 Pineapple
1 Fresh Mango (if they aren't in season, frozen mango works fine)
Juice of 1 Meyer Lemon
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
1 Tsp Bee Pollen
1 4" square of Aloe Vera
Enough Orange juice to make it blend well

Chop all ingredients into blendable chunks and add orange juice until you get a nice smoothie consistency. Enjoy!
